Non-prescribing nurses must follow the guidelines of the NMC. Each client you treat must be given a face-to-face consultation by a Doctor or a Nurse Prescriber.

If you wish to find a prescriber in your area that can carry out consultations for you, we can help with this, please call us on 0845 643 2008.

I don’t have any experience in aesthetics, are the courses suitable for me?

Yes, we have courses ranging from foundation through to advanced. The foundation courses are aimed at those with no experience in aesthetics at all. They are aimed to give you the knowledge and skills to go on and create a successful aesthetics career offering the most popular treatments requested by clients.

I live abroad can I still attend a course?

Yes. We hold Botulinum Toxin Type A Courses in London, Manchester and Glasgow. All cities have international airports within close travelling distance. Please see our page on international training for advanced practitioners.

I’m not a prescriber, can I train in Botulinum Toxin Type A?

Yes, you can train in Botulinum Toxin Type A, even if you are not a prescriber. We provide prescribers on the day of the training to ensure you can carry out your practical session. After your training there are a few options you can choose from to ensure your client receives a consultation and prescription before their treatment. Following the course, however, you must have prescriber willing to give a face-to-face consultation to your clients before you treat them. We have prescribers around the UK that can provide this service. Please contact us for more information.

How long do the courses last?

The courses last between one and four days. Click here for a full comparison of all of our courses.

How do I pay for my course?

If you have booked your course online, a member of the Medics Direct team will call you within 48 hours for your payment.  If you phone to make your booking, you can pay there and then. You are welcome to pay by debit or credit card, card validated cheque or bank transfer.  Once a deposit or full payment has been received, your place will be secure and full payment is due no less than 2 weeks prior to the course commencing.

What discounts, if any, are available when booking?

We have regular discounts for group bookings as well as special seasonal giveaways. Please see our Special Offers page for more information.

What happens if I book a course but then can’t attend on the date I specified?

If you cannot make the date you have booked, we will be happy to re-book you onto another course of your choice.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please note cancellation charges apply. Upon booking, 50% of the course fee is immediately non refundable. Bookings which are cancelled 2 or less weeks prior to the course are 100% non refundable. Cancellation fees are applied as it is not often possible to re-book cancelled places at less than 1 months notice. Cancellation charges will be withdrawn if the applicant re-books on the next available date in their area.

Do I have to bring a model to the course or can I get a treatment myself?

All delegates have the option to bring a model with them or opt for a treatment themselves. If you do not wish to do either of these, a model will be provided for you on the day. We ask that delegates decide a week prior to the course what option they would like to take regarding models, to make sure we have enough time to organise everything. Please complete your models form and email it to us as far in advance of the course as possible.

Is the course pass/fail?

Yes, the course is pass/fail. We feel it is important that each delegate reaches a standard level of competence before practising. A pass/fail course gives patients, suppliers and insurers added confidence in your skills and safety as a practitioner and this is something can promote to your clients and business partners. You will receive a certificate of competence not just of ‘attendance’.

We go out of our way to help every practitioner pass the course by teaching with patience and encouragement. We want you to pass as much as you do! If the trainer feels that you are not quite ready to treat clients straight after the course, you will be supported and invited to attend another course for free. Once both you and the trainer feel comfortable with the techniques and knowledge learned you will be certificated and can start practising straight away.

What is included in the course?

Our courses consist of a theory section that will equip you to treat your clients safely and effectively. The trainer will demonstrate each treatment on a live model. You will then have the opportunity to carry out a full treatment on a live model, which will be supervised on a one-to-one basis with the trainer. For full course programmes please visit the course pages.

When do the courses start and end?

We ask all delegates to arrive at 9.15am for tea/coffee and introductions so the course can begin promptly at 9.30am.  Most courses will finish at 5pm the latest, but larger courses may run over time.

How many people are on the course?

There is always at least one trainer to every five delegates. The maximum number of delegates for the Dermal fillers course is ten, and for Botulinum Toxin Type A courses it is twelve. This ensures that each delegate has plenty of one-to-one time with their trainer. You will treat your model completely, from facial assessment to treatment to aftercare and the trainer will guide you through this every step of the way.

These course numbers also give plenty of opportunity to network with other practitioners on the same career path as yourself.  Most delegates make connections and friends on the course that they stay in contact with throughout their aesthetics careers.

Is there parking?

There is public parking close by to the Glasgow and London venues. All venues have excellent transport links less than a five minute walk away.

What products are used in the training courses?

Our Botulinum Toxin Type A and Dermal Fillers courses are generic. You will use a specific brand on the day but you will be taught about and be able to use any brand of toxin or hyaluronic acid dermal filler following the course.

What reference materials are provided?

Each delegate is provided with a comprehensive manual that has all of the information for each treatment you will need. Each delegate will also be given a pack which details all of the practical information you will need following the course such as where to order your product from, how to set up your insurance and how to organise your clinical waste.

Will lunch be provided for me at the training courses?

Yes, we provide all refreshments and lunch on the day of your course.

Will I receive a manual before the course?.

Manuals are normally given out on the day of the course, but these can be sent out before the course date. We do not recommend extensive reading before the course starts as the manuals are fully explained in conjunction with the presentations on the day.

How many trainers will there be?

For every 5 delegates there will be one trainer. This allows each delegate to get one-to-one time with the trainer.

Can you suggest nearby accommodation to the course venue?

There are many hotels near to our city centre training venues, please contact us for more information.

What will I wear at the training course?

There is no dress code on our training course. Just wear something you will be comfortable in as it is a full day course and you will be standing for a large part of the afternoon.

What do I need to bring with me?

All you will need on the day is a pen and some paper if you wish to take notes, but you will also be able to take notes on the presentation handout.

If I opted to receive a treatment on the course, can I change my mind on the day?

All delegates must carry out a practical session in order to pass the course and be certificated. If you decide to get a treatment on the day, you will be another delegate’s model.

Please think carefully before opting to be another delegate’s model on the day. Read the models information and ensure you know fully what treatments you will be receiving and what they entail. Obviously you may change your mind on the day but this will mean that another delegate will not be able to complete their practical session and will therefore not pass the course.

This can be avoided by each delegate/model being informed and fully aware of what is involved before the course. If you wish to discuss the treatments , including what areas will be treated, anaesthetics used or expected results please call us on 0845 643 2008.

Will I get a certificate for training?

Yes, a certificate will be given to you on the day of the course once the training and practical session has been completed successfully.

Is there someone I can speak to regarding the course?
Yes, whether you have already booked on to a course or are still thinking about it, any of our team can help on 0845 643 2008.

I only want to do Botulinum Toxin Type A and Dermal Fillers, should I do a one-day combined course?

You want to give yourself the best start possible in this industry. If you wish to learn all of the information you need on the day of the course then a two day course is imperative. If you have time to study the course materials beforehand then a format such as the Fast Track Foundation Botulinum Toxin Type A and Dermal Fillers(link to the course page) one day course may be the best option for you. Many people who have attended a one day combined course for Botulinum Toxin Type A and Fillers with another provider have then gone on to take our two day Foundation Botulinum Toxin Type A and Dermal Fillers course. They have done this as they have felt that the one day course did not give them the time they felt they needed to take in as much information as they required, and that they did not get enough hands on experience.

Our two day courses consist of a theory section in the morning that equips you to practice safely in the knowledge that you have all of the relevant information you need. In the afternoon there is a practical session where the trainer will demonstrate each treatment on a live model. Each delegate will then get the opportunity to carry out a full treatment on a live model, which will be supervised on a one-to-one basis with the trainer. As there is a lot of important information to take in on each treatment to make sure you are comfortable and competent enough to go out and treat clients, a two day course is essential.

Our one day, fast track course, requires home study and a test on the day of the course and is a great course for those with less time to attend.

Can you run a bespoke course?

Yes, courses can be run on a one-to-one basis. Or if you have a group of five or more, we can come to you. We are more than happy to run a course from your clinic or venue. If you do not have a suitable venue, you are welcome to have the course at our training centre in Glasgow. Let us know what treatments you would like to learn and we can provide a tailored quote for you specific requirements.

How do I get clients and where would I practice?

To discuss any aspect of setting up and promoting your business following the course, please call us on 0845 6463 2008.

What if I feel I need more training?

If you complete the course and are unable to practice straight away, you are more than welcome to come along to the practical session of another training course free of charge. All you need to bring is a model for the treatment and the product to treat them with.

Do you have any special offers on products?

We always have some special offers available on products. As these can change regularly, please phone on: 0845 643 2008 to find out what the current offers are.

Can you help me with Insurance?

Our courses have been certified by two of the main insurers in the aesthetics industry; Cosmetic Insure and Hamilton Fraser. Both of these companies are experts in the field and will provide you with all of the insurance you require to run your aesthetics practice

How soon can I get started?

After your training course you can start practicing immediately. Many practitioners like to practice on friends and family first before moving onto the public but this isn’t necessary.  To make the most of the course it is a good idea to treat people within the first month while your confidence is high and the training is fresh in your mind. If for some reason this isn’t possible you are welcome to come back on the same foundation course again for free as a ‘refresher’.

What can I charge for treatments?

Practitioners charge varying amounts for treatments based on their location and their competitors. The average cost to a client for three areas of Botulinum Toxin Type A, for instance, is around £300. Many city centre salons charge more than this and some practitioners charge a bit less. Many clinics have promotions such as ‘£99 for Botulinum Toxin Type A’ but this will usually be for one area only, will be an introductory offer and the price for three areas may be anything up to £450.

How much will my products cost me?

Botulinum Toxin Type A ranges from around £72 to £150 depending on the size of the vial and brand you choose to use. As a guide, the average cost for treating one client for three areas of toxin will cost around £70.

For the treatments you will be learning about in the Foundation course, you will usually spend around £69 on a ml of dermal filler and charge the client on average £300.

What profits can I make from Medical Cosmetics treatments?

It depends on how many clients you wish to treat and what you are treating them for. For each treatment you should factor in:

Product Cost  - usually around £70 for one dermal filler or Botulinum Toxin Type A treatment (3 areas)
Consumables such as anaesthetic cream, needles, syringes, swabs - £5
If you are paying someone to do the consultation and prescription for you - £36
A fee to the salon owner, if required - £35
Your travel Insurance

Taking all of this into consideration, for a treatment with 1ml of dermal filler or 3 areas of Botulinum Toxin Type A you would earn at least £150. This money would be earned in about half an hour to an hour.  As your skills and practice progress this will increase as you are able to offer your clients more varied, combined treatments.
